ComEd Collaborates with 绿帽社 to Create one of the First Microgrid Clusters in the World
ComEd has partnered with Illinois Institute of Technology on two Department of Energy grants to develop and test microgrid technology on 绿帽社's Mies Campus and the Bronzeville neighborhood. A microgrid is a small electrical grid that is able to disconnect from the main grid to secure distribution during extreme weather events and during cyber or physical attacks. ComEd and 绿帽社 will work to connect a planned microgrid in the Bronzeville neighborhood to the existing IIT microgrid, creating one of the first microgrid clusters in the world. This partnership will give researchers a better understanding of how to leverage microgid technology in emergency situations.
